It's the majestic white mountain sides of Rondane you first meet on your arrival in Høvringen. A reliable, dry climate, shimmering mountain plateux, prepared ski tracks right outside your cabin door and exciting route options with degrees of difficulty to suit everyone.  
 

Høvringen is the beginning of network of marked routes, both through forest and mountain ground. About 150 kilometres of prepared routes surround Høvringen. The area is very suitable for all ages and skiing abilities. Those who desire strenuous trips to the peaks of Rondane can do so, and if you'd rather prefer a short morning trip through the forest, there's every opportunity in the world for this.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Most adult skis are mounted with the NNN system. We have some skis and boots with the 75 mm. system and the SNS system. 
Childrens skis from 150 to170 cm. are also mounted with the NNN system. 
Childrens skis from 100 to 140 cm. have the 75 mm. system. 

Høvringen Ski School offers 3 kinds of skis: 

TUR ski from Åsnes or Madshus without steel edges and the NNN system. 
All with 9 mm. between waist and tip.  
Leather boots with lining from Alfa or Alpina. 

TUR ski from Åsnes or Madshus with half steel edges and the NNN system. 
All with 9 mm. between waist and tip.  
Leather boots with lining from Alfa or Alpina. 

FJELL ski from Åsnes. Alittle wider ski with full steel edges. Mounted with Rottefella BC binding. 
10 mm. between waist and tip.  
High quality leather boots from Alfa. A good ski for trips outside the tracks. 
Not for telemark. 

We have boots from size 25 to 54 in the Ski School. 

What do I choose? 

For beginners we recommend tur skis without stel edges since most beginners find it difficult to control the plough and tend to angle the skis too much. The steel 'bites' in the snow which can reslut in you 'biting' it yourself! 
For experienced and slightly experienced we recommend the half steel edges since they react well  in turns and when ploughing. 
In the end of the season the snow might be icy and hard, and then the half steel edges are recommended even for beginners.   

The fjell skis are made for trips outside the tracks. 

Childrens skis size 100 to 140 cm. (for childrens up to 140 cm) with boots you rent for ½ price. 

Pulk with skis for little children (2 to 3 years of age) can be rented for 550 kr. pr. week. These skis can only be rented together with a pulk.  

Pulk with 'real' skis mounted with 75 mm. bindings for children can be rented for 600 kr. pr. week. 

It is a good idea to rent in advance. 
If you order minimum two weeks in advance, the equipment will be waiting for you at your hotel when you arrive at Høvringen. 
However, guests from Laurgårdseter, Romundgårdseter, Brekkeseter, Haukliseter 
Rondane Fjellhotell  and Høvringen Fjellstue must pick up their gear at the ski shop which is very close to them.

 Tour-ski with 1/2 steelegdes 

 In the ski school we offer lessons for both groups and singles. 
We have lessons for children, beginners and slightly experienced.  
You can book guided half day trips. Contact us and we will find out how and when.  

Snowshoe trip: 90 kr. pr. person  
Private trip: 150 kr./hour  
Single lesson: 250 kr./hour  
2-4 students: 250 kr./hour  
4-? students: 50 kr. pr. person/hour 
 

Ski school and snowshoe trip starts in week 7.  

Tuesday afternoon: 

Snow shoe trip with guide. 

We walk on snow shoes along the river that runs through Høvringen.  
Departure from the ski shop at 3.30 p.m. 
The trip takes approximately 1½ hour. 
Sign up at the Ski School the day before. 
Cost: 90 kr. - including rent of snow shoes. 
From week 7 to 14. 
 

Wednesday: 

Trip on your own to Mysuseter. 

Do you want to go through the National park – downwards with the sun in your face, maybe visit Rondvassbu or Glitterdalen – to Mysuseter? 
We arrange a bus from the little town Mysuseter back to Høvringen in the afternoon at 16.30. 
In Mysuseter it is possible to visit a cosy café while waiting for the bus. 
Bus tickets can be bought at your hotel reception or at the Ski School until 9.30 the same morning. 
Cost: 90 kr. 
From week 6 to 14. 
 
Alpine skiing in Dombås.

If you want to try alpine skiing, we arrange a trip to Dombås on Thursdays. It takes 45 minutes by bus.  
Departure from Høvringen at 10.00 a.m. Arrival in Høvringen in the afternoon around 5 p.m. 
Dombås has 3 pists and a T-lift. The hill has a 350 m. drop. 
Minimum 10 persons. Sign up at the Ski School the day before. 
Cost: 390 kr – including bus, lift, ski rental. 
Snowboard 50 kr. extra. 
 

Friday:
